Pramono Affirms Commitment to Supporting Sporting Events in Jakarta

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has affirmed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to support the staging of various sporting activities, one of which is the Gen Coop Run 5K Fun Run held to commemorate the 79th Cooperative Day.

Pramono said the Jakarta Government will also improve the quality of public spaces and sports facilities so they become more comfortable, safe, and accessible to the public.

“We want Jakarta to be a city that is friendly to runners, pedestrians, cyclists, and all sporting communities,” said Pramono while opening the running event at the office of the Ministry of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Sunday.

He assessed that sporting events in the capital form part of efforts to improve people’s quality of life, strengthen Jakarta’s position as a sports tourism destination, and reinforce the city’s image as a healthy, active global city that welcomes all communities.

Furthermore, the event also demonstrates that cooperatives do not only play a role in driving the economy, but are also capable of promoting a healthy lifestyle and strengthening communal bonds in society.

On the same occasion, Minister of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Ferry Joko Juliantono, expressed his appreciation to Pramono for the redevelopment of the Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said area.

He noted that the presence of the Ministry of Cooperatives office in the area means it too has benefited from the improvements carried out by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Mr Pramono Anung, who has transformed the face of Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said into a greener and more beautiful area. This area can now be used to host Car Free Day with various activities,” said Ferry.
