Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has announced the advancement of the Car Free Day (CFD) schedule every weekend. Both in the Sudirman-Thamrin area and the Rasuna Said area, it will be brought forward by 30 minutes from the usual time, starting at 05:30 WIB. Pramono assured that the new schedule will not yet be implemented this weekend. “However, I plan for the Car Free Day in Sudirman-Thamrin to start at 05:30 on 1 June. So after 1 June,” said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta Youth and Sports Building in East Jakarta on Friday (8/5). For this weekend’s activities, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is focusing its agenda in the Rasuna Said area for the launch of the household waste separation programme. Pramono revealed that the area is also in the final stages of completing public facility improvements. “So tomorrow, Sunday, is still the launch for waste separation in Jakarta, which will be held in Rasuna Said. We will soon complete the facilities, whether renovations or revitalisation of Rasuna Said, hopefully fully completed in June,” he explained. In the future, the arrangement of this area will provide a new alternative for the capital’s residents who want to exercise on weekends. Pramono stated that Rasuna Said will become one of the main CFD points to be inaugurated coinciding with Jakarta’s Birthday or HUT next month. “And that is what will later give choices to Jakarta residents; the big Car Free Day is not only Sudirman-Thamrin but also Rasuna Said. Because Rasuna Said, hopefully, will be completed in early June. Inaugurated on 22 June on Jakarta’s birthday,” said Pramono. Previously, Pramono said he would add CFD locations in the capital. The addition of these CFD locations aims to provide more space for sports and recreation for the community. With the opening of Rasuna Said, it is hoped that residents will no longer crowd only in the Sudirman-Thamrin area on weekends. “So Jakarta residents have many choices,” said Pramono. Pramono plans to change the implementation schedule so that residents can exercise more maximally and lead a healthy lifestyle. “Including the timing, I will announce changes to the Car Free Day hours, and hopefully, Jakarta residents will become healthier,” said Pramono.
