JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung considers Indonesia’s 8 percent economic growth target, as targeted by President Prabowo Subianto, not an easy feat to accomplish in the near term.

He stressed that although the target serves as the central government’s directive until 2027–2029, the current global conditions will make its achievement fraught with challenges.

Pramono conveyed this during the opening of the Musyawarah Perencanaan Pembangunan (Musrenbang) for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for 2027 at City Hall on Thursday (16/4/2026).

According to Pramono, there are two major pressures that could potentially affect Jakarta’s as well as the national economy.

First, geopolitical conflicts involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which impact energy prices and the global supply chain.

Additionally, the government faces the threat of the El Niño phenomenon, expected to occur from mid-April to September 2026.

This condition could affect various sectors, including food and inflation.

“This means that these two pressures will sooner or later certainly affect the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government,” Pramono continued.

“To manage Jakarta, we must not make mistakes. Jakarta must remain a role model for other regions,” he asserted.

Pramono hopes that through the Musrenbang forum, Jakarta’s economic stability will be maintained amid global pressures.

In his presentation, he noted that several of Jakarta’s macro indicators are still showing positive trends.
