Prambanan Temple Remains Open to Public During Prabowo-Modi State Visit

The Prambanan Temple Tourism Park will remain open to tourists on 7-8 July 2026, although operational adjustments will be in place due to the state visit agenda of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prabowo and Modi are scheduled to visit the Prambanan Temple complex on Wednesday (8/7). Based on an official statement from InJourney Destination Management (IDM), during this period tourists can still visit Sewu Temple, Lumbung Temple, Bubrah Temple, and the Shiva Field. Access will be redirected through the Sewu Temple entrance in Klaten, Central Java. IDM also confirmed that tickets purchased online for these dates remain valid, with adjustments to the visit areas and additional facilities for visitors. Meanwhile, on-site ticket purchases will only be served until 15.00 WIB. IDM Commercial Director Gistang Panutur said the operational adjustments were made without reducing the tourist experience of enjoying the Prambanan Temple area. He noted that visitors can still explore the historical and cultural richness of the area while prioritising safety and comfort. ‘We ensure the visitor experience exploring Sewu Temple, Bubrah Temple and Lumbung Temple remains exciting and meaningful, while prioritising visitor safety and comfort. Tourists can still enjoy the historical and cultural values amidst the lush green landscape that characterises this destination,’ Gistang said. According to Gistang, the operational adjustments are a form of IDM’s support for the state agenda, which holds strategic significance for Indonesia-India bilateral relations. ‘As the destination manager, we fully support this state agenda through planned operational adjustments, so that the entire series of state activities can proceed safely, comfortably and memorably,’ he stated. IDM said it has conducted intensive coordination with ministries, local governments, security forces and all stakeholders to ensure the area’s readiness during the state visit. ‘We continue to coordinate intensively with all stakeholders to adapt to the security standards set by the state. Operational adjustments at the destination are made dynamically according to developments on the ground, so that the entire visit can proceed safely, orderly and smoothly without reducing the quality of destination management,’ Gistang explained. IDM urged the public and tourists who have planned visits on 7-8 July 2026 to adjust their travel schedules.
