Prambanan–Purwomartani Toll Scheme During Eid Exodus: Here's the Arrangement

YOGYAKARTA – Toll road operators are preparing several strategies to maintain smooth traffic flow during the Eid exodus period, including the operation of the functional toll section in Yogyakarta.

One area receiving particular attention is the Prambanan–Purwomartani functional toll section, which will operate under a special traffic scheme to prevent congestion around the toll exit gate.

“Next is the Solo to Jogja section from the Prambanan direction. Previously we only reached Prambanan, right? Now it extends to Purwomartani,” said Rivan A. Purwantono, President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, to Kompas.com on Monday, 9 March 2026.

However, not all exodus travellers can utilise the additional section. Under the implemented scheme, vehicles coming from Jakarta or Solo heading to Yogyakarta must exit at the Prambanan toll gate and are not permitted to continue to Purwomartani.

Conversely, the Purwomartani section will function as a toll entry point for vehicles departing from Yogyakarta heading towards Solo, Surabaya, or Jakarta via the Trans Java Toll Network.

“This is also a plan prepared because of the distribution arrangement. We will use it as an inbound lane from Jogja onto the toll. So vehicles enter via Purwomartani, whilst they still exit at Prambanan,” said Rivan.

Jasa Marga is even considering implementing a local one-way system in the area to ensure vehicles move more smoothly.

“With this arrangement, we might also create a local lane there, a local one-way system so to speak, so there is no crossing traffic and everything can flow smoothly,” explained Rivan.

If vehicles from Solo exited directly at Purwomartani, drivers would have to turn back to reach the main road.

“Prambanan will remain as the exit gate for vehicles from Kartasura. Because if they exit at Purwomartani, they would have to turn back again,” said Rivan.

“We previously discussed whether we needed to open or widen the road and such matters. However, the traffic police said that would be risky,” he said.
