Prambanan-Purwomartani Toll Road Not Opened Functionally During School Holidays
Entering the 2026 school holiday season, PT Jasa Marga will not implement a functional opening for the Prambanan (Klaten)-Purwomartani (Sleman) section, as was done during the Eid homecoming flow. Holiday traffic heading to Yogyakarta will continue to pass through the Prambanan Toll Gate.
“For this month’s school holidays, we are not having a functional opening. Yes, the holiday traffic flow towards Yogyakarta goes through the Prambanan Toll Gate,” explained PT Jasa Marga Jogja Solo’s Technical Director, Pristi Wahyono, to detikJogja on Wednesday (24/6/2026).
Pristi explained that there were several considerations for not implementing a functional opening on this section. One of them is that bridge construction work has not yet been completed. “The reason there is no functional opening on the Prambanan-Purwomartani section is that there is still unfinished bridge work at Km 40. The U-turn on the national road is still in the land acquisition stage,” Pristi stated.
Furthermore, Pristi mentioned that the use of the Prambanan Toll Gate is still considered adequate to accommodate the traffic flow. Holiday traffic is not as high as during the Eid homecoming or Christmas and New Year periods. “Using the Prambanan Toll Gate is still deemed sufficient because traffic during the holiday season is not as high as during Nataru and Lebaran. Even though the physical progress is already 90 percent,” Pristi continued.
“We urge road users heading to Yogyakarta to ensure their vehicles are in prime condition before travelling, rest every four hours of driving by utilising the nearest rest areas, observe speed limits, obey traffic signs, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and ensure sufficient balance on their E-Toll cards,” he added.
Human Capital Manager of PT Jasa Marga Jogja Solo, Rahmat Jesiman, echoed the statement. There will be no functional opening of the Prambanan-Purwomartani toll section. “During the school holiday period, there is no functional opening. Yes, the direction to Yogyakarta still goes through the Prambanan Toll Gate,” Rahmat clarified.
