Prambanan Cable Car Project in Sleman Still Completing Permitting Process
Yogyakarta - Sleman Regency has long been a popular destination for tourists seeking holiday spots. As a key tourism area, Sleman Regency is set to gain a new attraction in the form of a cable car in the Prambanan sub-district.
The project, valued at around Rp 200 billion, is currently in the process of completing its permitting requirements.
Head of the Sleman Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP), Triana Wahyuningsih, stated that the idea for the cable car destination came from investors.
Triana explained that the cable car project is still working through the permitting process. The permit already obtained is the Spatial Utilisation Activity Compliance (KKPR).
“Initially, it must have KKPR first. The spatial planning there is already suitable for artificial tourism development activities,” she said.
Triana noted that the ongoing permitting relates to land use, as some areas involve village-owned land (TKD).
“Because the land includes village-owned land, this is being processed at the DIY provincial government. Using village-owned land requires permission from the governor,” she explained.
“This happens to include some areas within LSD. And the Regent has personally led a visit to the Ministry of ATR to inform them about the LSD,” she added.
The Ministry of ATR/BPN, according to Triana, has requested that the Sleman regional government verify the land available for LSD. This is because Sleman Regency is required to allocate 87% of its land for LSD.
“The Sleman regional government has been asked to clear and verify because the mandate is 87%. That 87% is being checked by the Spatial Planning Agency for areas suitable for LSD,” she revealed.
Triana also mentioned that communication and coordination have been conducted with the Ministry of Culture. This is due to the presence of numerous historical sites in the Prambanan sub-district.
“Regarding the sites, we have coordinated with the Ministry of Culture. Actually, the cable car does not involve massive construction; just poles to provide views there,” she elaborated.
Triana stated that the cable car is planned to connect the Tebing Breksi destination, Candi Banyunibo, and Candi Miri. The investment value is around Rp 200 billion.
On the other hand, this cable car will become an iconic tourism destination in Sleman Regency.
“This will be the only destination that becomes an icon in Sleman,” she concluded.
