Pram Requests More Lactation Rooms in Public Facilities and Government Offices
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has acknowledged that the availability of lactation rooms in public facilities and offices across Jakarta is still not optimal. Consequently, the Jakarta Provincial Government will push for the provision of lactation rooms in every public space that is built.
“I have also received a lot of input that lactation rooms in offices, especially, and also in public facilities owned by Jakarta are indeed not yet optimal,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Monday (20/7/2026).
Nevertheless, Pramono stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government has begun to introduce lactation rooms in several new public facilities. He cited the recently inaugurated Nyi Ageng Serang Library, which has been equipped with such a facility.
“But Jakarta now, for example, yesterday when I inaugurated the Nyi Ageng Serang Library, there was a really good lactation room. Because that is what, as a global city, we are certainly preparing for that,” he said.
Pramono stressed that the provision of lactation rooms will be a focus for the Jakarta Provincial Government going forward. According to him, every public space development must be equipped with facilities that are friendly for mothers and children.
“So this lactation room issue will become a movement for anyone wanting to open a public space, so a lactation room must also be prepared,” he stated.
He assessed that the existence of lactation rooms is part of the effort to realise Jakarta as a child-friendly city. “Because Jakarta must once again be a province that is friendly and comfortable for children,” he added.
