Pram: Latumenten Flyover Targeted for Completion Next December
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has announced that the construction of the Latumenten flyover in West Jakarta has reached 55.2 percent completion and is targeted to be finished by 15 December 2026. “Currently, the progress is 55.2 percent, with a budget of Rp259 billion. This is one of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s priority projects, and I hope it can be completed by 15 December 2026,” he said after inspecting the Latumenten flyover on Thursday. According to Pramono, the flyover is a much-anticipated infrastructure project because the area frequently experienced severe traffic congestion before construction began. He stated that when the flyover was first proposed, he immediately decided to make it a top priority to ease congestion in the Grogol, Pluit, and Slipi areas. He expressed hope that the flyover would quickly resolve traffic problems in the region. Once the flyover is built, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also plans to close the railway level crossing located beneath the overpass. Pramono said this measure is intended to prevent traffic from being held up by the opening and closing of the crossing gates, while also improving road user safety. He explained that vehicles would be directed onto the flyover, eliminating direct interaction with the railway line. On the same occasion, Head of the DKI Jakarta Highways Department, Heru Suwondo, clarified that only the railway crossing would be closed. The road beneath the flyover will remain open to allow vehicles to make U-turns. “So, the road is not closed, only the crossing is. Vehicles can still turn around, including those coming from the north who wish to return north,” Heru explained. Heru estimated that the flyover could cut travel time by approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Currently, vehicles are frequently delayed by the opening and closing of the railway crossing gates, causing long queues in the Latumenten area. “Later, there will be no more disruptions, so vehicles can pass directly over the flyover without any hindrance. It might save around 10 to 15 minutes because previously they were held up below, and later they won’t be,” Suwondo said.
