Pram: Latumenten Flyover Targeted for Completion Next December
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has revealed that the construction of the Latumeten Flyover in West Jakarta has reached 55.2 per cent and is targeted for completion by 15 December 2026.
“Currently, progress stands at 55.2 per cent, with a budget of Rp259 billion. This is one of the priority projects of the Jakarta Provincial Government, which I hope will be finished by 15 December 2026,” said Pramono after inspecting the Latumeten Flyover in West Jakarta on Thursday.
According to Pramono, the Latumeten Flyover is a highly anticipated infrastructure project because the area frequently experiences heavy traffic congestion prior to the construction of the overpass.
He stated that upon receiving the proposal for the Latumeten Flyover, he immediately decided to make its construction a top priority to ease congestion in the Grogol, Pluit, and Slipi areas, among others.
He expressed hope that the flyover would promptly resolve the traffic issues in the region.
Once the flyover is completed, the Jakarta Provincial Government also plans to close the level railway crossing located beneath the flyover.
Pramono noted that this step is being taken to ensure traffic is not hindered by the opening and closing of crossing gates, while simultaneously improving road user safety.
According to him, vehicles will eventually be directed towards the flyover so they no longer intersect directly with the railway tracks.
During the inspection, the Head of the Jakarta Highways Department, Heru Suwende, explained that only the railway crossing will be closed. The road beneath the flyover will remain accessible for vehicles to perform U-turns.
“So, it is not being closed entirely; only the crossing is being closed. Vehicles can still turn around, and those coming from the north who wish to return north can still make a U-turn,” explained Heru.
Heru estimates that the presence of the flyover could reduce travel time by approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
Currently, vehicles are often delayed due to the opening and closing of the railway crossing, which causes long queues in the Latumeten area.
“In the future, there will be no more disruptions, allowing vehicles to pass directly over the flyover without any interference. It could save about 10 to 15 minutes because previously vehicles were held up below; now, they will no longer be delayed,” said Suwende.
