Pram: Color of Jakarta Documents DKI's Development Progress Over the Past Year
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung believes that the visual works presented in the Color of Jakarta (COJ) 2026 competition serve as documentation of the various developments undertaken by the Jakarta Provincial Government in collaboration with the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) over the past year.
“The differences and visual diversity demonstrate that Jakarta continues to evolve. We fully support this activity, which captures the colourful various activities across Jakarta,” said Pramono at City Hall on Tuesday.
He expressed hope that in the future, COJ can capture Jakarta’s ongoing development, such as the improved public transport access to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), the construction of the Sumber Waras Hospital, and the development of the integration of six transport modes via the Dukuh Atah pedestrian deck.
According to him, visual works from the perspective of residents are capable of showcasing the face of a Jakarta that is continuously progressing towards becoming a global city.
“Jakarta is now comparing itself with global cities, no longer with other cities in Indonesia. Currently, Jakarta ranks 71st out of 156 global cities. Furthermore, in the assessment of national capitals worldwide, Jakarta ranks 53rd out of 100 capitals, performing better than Washington D.C. and Abu Dhabi,” Pramono stated.
On this occasion, Pramono also approved the expansion of participation for COJ 2027 to include senior high school (SMA) students. This decision was made following a proposal from the Chairman of the Jury, Darwis Triadi.
This year, a total of 5,646 photographic works from 894 participants were entered across five categories: Jakarta Humanist, Jakarta Cultural, Jakarta Contemporary, Jakarta Festive, and Jakarta Radiant.
Meanwhile, the video competition saw 149 participants contributing a total of 172 works, divided into landscape, vertical, and AI categories.
