Pram Asserts Jakarta CCTV Was Not Deactivated During Protests: Everything Remains Monitored

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has emphasised that there were no attempts to deactivate CCTV cameras owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government during recent demonstrations. He ensured that conditions on the ground remained monitored.

Pramono was initially questioned regarding the status of damaged CCTV cameras in the Pejompongan area during the protests. He refuted any claims that efforts were made to turn off the cameras to prevent the demonstrations from being monitored.

“It is untrue that there were attempts to turn off the CCTV and so on, because everything is monitored and we have the data to prove it,” Pramund said in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, on Monday (31/08/2026).

Pramono stated that only one or two facility points experienced damage. However, he noted that this situation did not disrupt the overall monitoring system of Jakarta’s CCTV.

“So, once again, there were only one or two points, but overall, it is functioning well,” he added.

On the other hand, he mentioned that the Jakarta Provincial Government is currently investigating the damage to several public facilities. Pramono ensured that, overall, Jakarta’s public facilities continued to function properly during the protests.

“Regarding public facilities, whether it be CCTV, bus stops, and others that may have been damaged during the protests, we are currently investigating them, including the situation in Pejompongan,” he revealed.

“Therefore, I must convey that, in reality, during the recent demonstrations, almost all of our public facilities functioned well,” he concluded.
