Pram asks Satpol PP ranks to carry out duties humanely and professionally

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has asked newly sworn-in functional officials of the Satpol PP to carry out their duties with a humane and professional approach.

“Most of the functional officials sworn in today are Satpol PP officers, numbering 473 people,” Pramono said during the Oath-Taking and Swearing-In Ceremony for Functional Positions within the Jakarta Provincial Government at City Hall, on Wednesday.

He urged all levels of the Satpol PP to enforce regional regulations with a stance that is firm yet humane, professional and non-discriminatory.

According to Pramono, the Satpol PP ranks must be able to maintain public order and city tidiness consistently, ensuring the function of pedestrians remains a safe and comfortable space for the public.

Because, Pramono added, the orderliness of public spaces is one of the key indicators in building Jakarta’s image as a well-ordered, modern, and competitive global city.

In addition, in this Ramadan moment, Pramono also asked that Satpol PP ranks to curb beggars and cart-pushers in the capital.

“Because that does not reflect a global city. And thank God, the streets are now much more orderly than they used to be,” Pramono said.

Today, Pramono inaugurated 521 functional officials from 15 types of positions across 11 regional agencies.

Pramono emphasised that the entire process of filling these posts has been carried out with the principles of meritocracy that are fair, transparent and accountable.
