Pradnya Swari Dance Studio Honoured as Pioneer of Inclusive Arts Education

Sanggar Tari Pradnya Swari has been honoured at the detikBali-Nusra Awards 2026, receiving the Leading Community Pioneer Award for Inclusive Arts Education. The award was presented to the studio’s founder, Ni Kadek Astini, by detikBali Editor-in-Chief Mukhlis Dinillah. Through Sanggar Tari Pradnya Swari, Astini not only teaches Balinese dance to the younger generation but also provides equal access for children with special needs to learn, express themselves, and build confidence free of charge. She has consistently pursued this commitment since founding the studio in 2010, and it now serves more than 420 students across Jembrana Regency. Since 2020, Astini has specifically focused on embracing children with disabilities, developing adaptive teaching methods to overcome communication barriers such as sign language limitations, ensuring that deaf and physically disabled children can follow every dance movement. Her efforts extend beyond the studio, as she personally visits the homes of disabled children to offer motivation and ensure they receive equal opportunities to develop their artistic potential. These efforts have borne fruit, with her disabled students performing on various stages, including representing Bali at events facilitated by the Ministry of Social Affairs in Jakarta and other regions. The detikBali-Nusra Awards 2026 aim to recognise individuals, institutions, and communities that have demonstrated innovation and made tangible contributions to the progress of Bali and the Nusa Tenggara region.
