Pradi Supriatna, a member of the West Java Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) representing the Depok and Bekasi constituency, is urging the West Java Provincial Government to immediately realise the construction of SMKN 5 Depok in Meruyung Village, Limo District. The acceleration of this project is considered vital as the land for the school has already been transferred from the Depok City Government to the West Java Provincial Government.

Pradi stated that the existence of SMKN 5 Depok is essential to expand access to vocational secondary education for the community, particularly as the school has already accepted new students for the 2026/2027 academic year. “Since the land is available and the student admission process is already underway, the construction of the school building must be followed up immediately. We must ensure that students are not studying without optimal school facilities,” Pradi said on Saturday (1/8/2026).

He added that the construction of state schools must be part of the government’s efforts to provide equitable and accessible educational services. As a region with high population growth, Depok requires additional educational facilities, specifically vocational high schools (SMK) that can equip students with skills aligned with labour market needs.

Pradi also encouraged the West Java Education Office to coordinate with the Depok City Government to ensure all construction stages proceed rapidly without administrative or technical obstacles. “We in the West Java DPRD will certainly push and oversee this process. The hope is that construction can begin promptly so that by early 2027, school facilities can be utilised to their full potential,” he said.

Previously, the Mayor of Depok, Supian Suri, also requested the West Java Education Office to accelerate the construction of SMKN 5 Depok. This request was made during a site survey by the West Java Education Office team at the school site in RW 05, Meruyung Village, Limo District. The land has been officially handed over by the Depok City Government to the West Java Provincial Government, with local authorities hoping the project will support the educational needs of the Limo area and its surroundings.
