A practitioner from one of the Sharia insurance companies, Raka Rosadi Putra, has revealed that the profession of a marketing agent can serve as an alternative for the public who wish to start a business with relatively low risks and capital requirements. “The desire to have one’s own business is often hindered by capital issues, from rental costs and procurement of goods to the risk of losses in the initial stages, thus prompting some people to seek more flexible paths,” said Agency Builder Prudential Syariah Raka Rosadi Putra in his statement received in Surabaya on Friday. He explained that he chose this profession after comparing various business opportunities in terms of risks and potential profits. Meanwhile, he said, demographic data shows Indonesia has great potential in terms of productive age, with around 74.93 million Gen Z individuals and 69.38 million millennials who are actively seeking job and business opportunities. On the other hand, he continued, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs records that the national entrepreneurship ratio in 2025 will reach 3.29 percent, indicating an upward trend although it still needs to be encouraged so that more people dare to start businesses. In addition, Raka said, the marketing agent profession is considered to have flexibility because it allows individuals to manage their working hours, build networks, and develop skills independently. “The 2024 National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion records the Sharia financial literacy index at 43.42 percent and inclusion at 13.41 percent, showing the great need for education to the public regarding financial planning,” he stated. Not only that, he said, at the industry level, the achievements of marketing agents are also recognised through the Sharia Insurance Convention and Awards (SICA) 2025, which provides several awards to outstanding marketing agents. Raka added that success in this profession is more determined by consistency and willingness to learn than by the amount of initial capital. “If still in doubt, empty the glass, study diligently, and look at opportunities from a new perspective,” he concluded.
