The South Sumatra Regional Police, through the Prabumulih Resort Police, alongside the Prabumulih Bhayangkari branch, has distributed basic food supplies and monetary compensation to residents affected by a fire. This assistance was provided as a gesture of care and to alleviate the burden on the victims.

The aid was delivered directly during a visit led by the Chief of Prabumulih Resort Police, AKBP Gunarto, on Tuesday (29/9) at Jalan Yusuf Wahid, Sukajadi Village, East Prabumulih District, Prabumulih City.

During the visit, AKBP Gunarto was accompanied by the Chairperson of the Prabumulih Bhayangkari Branch, Mrs Indah Gunarto, along with several police officials and Bhayangkari administrators. The assistance was handed over to Mario Prakis and Berli Helem, who were impacted by the blaze.

It is hoped that the food supplies and financial aid will help meet the daily needs of the residents and support them in rebuilding their lives following the disaster.

The Head of Public Relations for the South Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Pol Nandang Mumin Wijaya, emphasised that the presence of the police and Bhayangkari serves as a manifestation of care for the community facing difficulties.

“We want the community to feel the presence of the National Police when they need support. Through these food supplies and financial aid, we hope to help meet the victims’ needs and lighten their burden after the fire,” Nandang stated in a written release on Wednesday (30/9/2026).

This act of care aligns with the message from the South Sumatra Regional Police Chief: “Have you done good today?” This message is realised through concrete actions to assist those in need, including residents affected by the fire.

“The Chief’s message serves as a reminder for every officer to continue doing good. Assisting citizens in difficulty is a form of service that reflects the spirit of the National Police towards the community,” he added.

According to police reports, the fire was suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit in an electric bicycle, which then spread to the victims’ house fence. There were no casualties or injuries reported in the incident. However, material losses are estimated to reach Rp800 million, with one Suzuki Smash motorcycle and one Kijang Super car also destroyed in the fire.

Through this visit and the distribution of aid, the Prabumulih Police and Bhayangkari aim to assist residents in meeting their needs following the disaster. The spirit of the National Police for the community is demonstrated through tangible care for those in need.
