Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto’s state visit to South Korea has yielded significant results in strengthening the economic sector, with the signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between businesses from both countries valued at $10.2 billion (approximately Rp173 trillion).

This was stated by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto after attending the “Indonesia–Korea Partnership for Resilient Growth” forum in Seoul, South Korea, on Wednesday (1/4).

According to information received on Thursday, Airlangga attended on behalf of President Prabowo, accompanied by the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani.

“In that meeting, MoUs were signed with a value of $10.2 billion or approximately Rp173 trillion,” Airlangga told the media in Seoul.

Airlangga explained that the cooperation covers various strategic sectors, including energy and green transition, such as solar power, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and renewable energy.

Additionally, the cooperation includes the industrial and manufacturing sectors, such as steel, batteries, and eco-friendly transportation.

“The investments also include the digital and AI sectors. Then property and infrastructure, including development in Bumi Serpong Damai, and business and association cooperation between Kadin and KCCI, particularly to encourage business commitments,” he continued.

Furthermore, Airlangga mentioned that several major Korean companies are reinforcing their investment commitments in Indonesia, including POSCO’s development of the steel industry and Lotte’s investment interest, which opens opportunities for collaboration with Danantara as an investment partner.

The Coordinating Minister for the Economy further emphasised that the results of President Prabowo’s visit to South Korea complement the investment achievements from the previous visit to Japan, which resulted in investment commitments of $23.6 billion or approximately Rp401 trillion.

“This means that the President’s visits to these two countries have resulted in investment commitments totalling Rp574 trillion,” Airlangga revealed.

According to him, this achievement demonstrates that Indonesia remains an attractive investment destination amid global geopolitical uncertainties.

“This is a very significant figure because, in this uncertain geopolitical situation, Indonesia still holds appeal for investors from both Japan and South Korea,” he added.

On that occasion, Airlangga also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuously improving the investment climate through debottlenecking measures, namely resolving investment obstacles faced by businesses.

“We are preparing a debottlenecking mechanism so that all issues faced by the business world can be resolved quickly,” he said.

He also conveyed that discussions between the Indonesian and South Korean governments were very positive, in line with the bilateral meeting between President Prabowo and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, which resulted in an agreement to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.

This cooperation is expected to drive sustainable economic growth, accelerate industrial transformation, and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global supply chain across various strategic sectors.
