Prabowo's Visit to Japan to Meet Emperor Naruhito and Discuss Strategic Sector Cooperation
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi explained that President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Japan is to fulfil an invitation from Emperor Naruhito. The State Secretary stated that, in addition to meeting the Emperor, the Head of State will also hold discussions with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. The series of meetings aims to strengthen friendly relations as well as strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Japan. “The President will discuss many strategic matters that form the strength of our cooperation with the Japanese government,” Prasetyo said on Sunday (29/3/2026). Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to Japan are Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. President Prabowo’s departure was seen off directly by Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
