Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani stated that Japan’s investment commitments to Indonesia during President Prabowo Subianto’s working visit amount to around US$23.3 billion, equivalent to Rp 395.9 trillion (at an exchange rate of Rp 16,994). The majority of this investment will flow into the energy sector.

Rosan said these inflows serve as tangible proof that international confidence, from both the Japanese government and businesses, remains strong.

“This (investment from Japan) is approximately US$23.3 billion in US dollar terms,” Rosan stated in Japan, quoted on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

Rosan detailed that the largest portion comes from a joint project with Pertamina valued at US$20.9 billion. Additionally, there is a cooperation agreement between Danantara and SMBC Aviation Leasing worth US$800 million in investment.

Pegadaian also secured funding from SMBC Bank of approximately US$300 million. Regarding blood plasma, there is an investment of up to US$1 billion. According to Rosan, this is the second such investment after that from SK Plasma in South Korea.

“There is also cooperation from an aesthetics beauty company named Two-Way with an Indonesian company for investment in Indonesia valued at US$500 million,” Rosan explained.

“Actually, there are several more investments, including geothermal between PT Supramu and a company with Sumitomo, which I believe was agreed upon for its expansion investment,” Rosan added.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said these investment commitments are part of the overall cooperation agreements between Indonesia and Japan that have been settled. Teddy made this statement after Prabowo met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito.

“So the investments mentioned are part of all the Indonesia-Japan agreements,” Teddy said.

Prabowo is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Tuesday (31/3/2026). In addition, the Head of State will meet with several Japanese business leaders.

“Then, the next day in the afternoon, he will be introduced to around 12 of Japan’s largest business leaders by the Minister of Investment and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources with the President, similar to what was done yesterday in America,” Teddy added.
