Prabowo's Trip to Japan to Strengthen Investment and Technology Amid Global Geopolitics

President Prabowo Subianto has commenced a state visit to Japan with a strategic mission: to strengthen Indonesia’s economic resilience amid increasingly complex global geopolitical dynamics. Upon arrival in Tokyo, Indonesia-Japan cooperation is being further reinforced, not only in increasing investment but also in technological collaboration and strengthening the global supply chain. Japan is viewed as a key partner due to its track record in long-term investment and technology transfer. The State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, described this visit as an important momentum to expand cooperation in various strategic sectors, from trade and education to the environment. Meanwhile, the Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, emphasised that the technology and digital sectors are the primary focus of bilateral discussions. The government hopes this visit will drive increased Japanese investment in Indonesia. With diplomatic relations established for decades, this visit is expected to yield concrete investments and strengthen Indonesia’s position as a strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific region.
