President Prabowo Subianto wasted no time in filling the vacant post of Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The position left by Nanik Sudaryati Deyang was immediately filled by Sudaryono. Nanik tendered her resignation on Wednesday morning (22/7/2026). On the same day, Prabowo inaugurated Sudaryono as the new Head of BGN at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon.

The news of her resignation was conveyed by Nanik through her personal Facebook page. In the post, Nanik explained her reasons for stepping down and hinted at her successor for the BGN leadership. Nanik apologised to Prabowo for her decision, stating that she resigned for health reasons.

‘I also conveyed to the President with a thousand apologies that it seems I must resign as Head of BGN, for the sake of my health, and because the president was concerned and felt sorry for me, the President agreed,’ Nanik said on her Facebook page on Wednesday (22/7). ‘With a heavy heart, I finally said goodbye to the President to seek treatment abroad for my heart. I planned to depart today, Wednesday (22/7). This is not because I distrust the excellent doctors in Indonesia, but for a second opinion, and coincidentally a friend recommended the place I am heading to,’ she added.

Nanik disclosed that Prabowo plans to form a BGN Supervisory Board and has asked her to serve as its chair. Despite leaving her executive role, Nanik affirmed her continued support for all of Prabowo’s government programmes. ‘However, I was asked to continue overseeing BGN. The President will likely form a supervisory board where I am asked to become the chair,’ Nanik stated.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi explained the reason behind Prabowo’s decision to appoint Nanik as Chair of the BGN Supervisory Board after her resignation. Prasetyo highlighted Nanik’s extensive experience within the agency. ‘Given her experience, before serving as Head of BGN she served as Deputy Head of BGN, then on 8 June she was appointed as Head of BGN. The President feels that Ibu Nanik can still provide an optimal contribution,’ Prasetyo said. ‘Of course, with a different role, due to health considerations, the President still asked Ibu Nanik to join in overseeing, ensuring the success, and continuing to work together with the new leadership to improve the overall implementation and governance of our National Nutrition Agency.’
