Prabowo's Strategy to Confront El Nino Set to Strike Indonesia
JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto has prepared strategic measures to confront the El Nino phenomenon predicted to strike Indonesia.
According to forecasts from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the El Nino phenomenon is expected to become active beginning in June 2026 and continue until approximately March through May 2027.
BMKG Head Teuku Faisal Fatani stated that the El Nino affecting Indonesian territory will have moderate to strong intensity.
“So if it becomes active this year, it will end roughly in March through May in 2027,” said Faisal, in Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday (23 May 2026).
