Prabowo's Story of Seeing Himself Delivering Speeches in Mandarin and Arabic in an AI Video

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto stated that imitation intelligence or AI can make people speak about things they have never discussed, for example, Prabowo suddenly speaking Mandarin and Arabic.

“There is also me giving a speech in Mandarin. Isn’t there? There is also me giving a speech in Arabic. Extraordinary,” said Prabowo during the cabinet meeting briefing at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Joking aside, the video of him speaking in Arabic could actually benefit him because it circulated during the campaign.

“Because at that time it was the campaign period, I thought it might be advantageous in the Tapal Kuda regions. So I stayed silent about it. If it’s beneficial, we stay silent, right?” Prabowo joked, met with laughter from the ministers and state agency heads.

Furthermore, Prabowo highlighted the rapid development of digital technology, which he assessed as bringing new challenges, particularly in the dissemination of information on social media.

He explained the echo chamber effect or reverberation space that facilitates the spread of narratives by people exploiting technology on social media.

“What is a bit of a problem now is technology. With current technology, AI, artificial intelligence, digital information technology, one person can have 1,000 accounts, they can buy tools that are not too expensive, from these 1,000 it can be multiplied again,” explained Prabowo.

“It seems like it becomes a bit troublesome, 100 people, 200 people, 1,000 people, 5,000 people can cause a stir. This is called an echo chamber, it’s in intelligence studies. In the past, to damage another country, you would send troops and bombs, now it’s not necessary, perhaps social media games, slander, hoaxes,” added Prabowo.
