Prabowo's Speech Emphasises People's Welfare, PSI: A Statesman Oriented Towards Social Justice

Jakarta – The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has welcomed President Prabowo Subianto’s message in his state address, which positioned economic growth and investment as means to improve public welfare. PSI considers this orientation important so that development success is not measured solely through economic growth figures, investment, or other macro indicators.

PSI Central Executive Board spokesman Dedek Prayudi said Prabowo’s view that places people’s welfare as the primary goal reflects a development direction oriented towards social justice. “His statement that economic growth and investment are not the end goal, but rather instruments to achieve people’s welfare, reflects the thinking of a statesman oriented towards social justice,” said Dedek on Sunday, 16 August 2026.

According to Dedek, investment entering Indonesia should have a direct impact on people’s lives. One indicator is the creation of jobs and the improvement of people’s quality of life, especially for lower economic groups. “This approach ensures national development does not stop at statistical figures or macro achievements alone, but truly delivers fair and equitable social impact down to the most vulnerable citizens,” said Dedek.

PSI believes economic development should be positioned as an instrument to achieve a greater goal, namely improving public welfare. Thus, the measure of development success should not only be seen from the size of gross domestic product (GDP), investment value, or other economic indicators, but also from how far the benefits are felt by the public. “This commitment deserves full support so that the state’s economic instruments are always devoted as much as possible to the prosperity and welfare of all Indonesian people,” said Dedek.
