Prabowo's Six Directives to Police: Maintain Public Trust and Master Technology
President Prabowo Subianto delivered several key messages during the commemoration of the 80th Bhayangkara Day. One of his primary requests was for the National Police (Polri) to continue maintaining public trust.
“First, maintain the trust of the people, because trust is a policeman’s strongest weapon,” Prabowo stated in his speech at the Polri Brimob Training Centre, Cikeas, Bogor, on Wednesday (1/7/2026).
Prabowo also advised Polri to continue bringing themselves closer to the people and protecting the citizenry.
“Come when the people need you, listen to the people, serve the people, protect the people. Do not instead become a burden to the people,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo also reminded the force that Polri is funded by the people. Therefore, Polri is requested to continue guarding and protecting the populace.
“Remember, our salaries as state apparatus come from the people. All our equipment comes from the people, which is why we must truly guard and protect the people,” he explained.
As law enforcement officers, Polri was called upon to enforce the law as fairly as possible and to defend the vulnerable.
“Third, enforce the law justly, dare to defend what is right, and dare to protect the weak. Never fear anyone. We only fear Almighty God,” he elaborated.
Prabulate also urged all members of Polri to continuously enhance their professionalism.
“Master science, master technology, master artificial intelligence. Crimes of today and the future can only be defeated by apparatus that are always learning, intelligent, and reliable,” he revealed.
Prabowo also advised Polri to continue strengthening synergy with the TNI (National Armed Forces), the government, and all government institutions, as well as community leaders, religious scholars, academics, media, entrepreneurs, and also farmers, fishermen, labourers, and all the people of Indonesia.
“Sixth, never stop improving yourselves. Do not be arrogant. The more knowledgeable one becomes, the more humble they should be; being humble does not mean being inferior. Indeed, those who are strong will be even more polite and behave well,” he said.
Prabowo stated that a great institution is one that is willing to listen to suggestions and criticism. He also advised all members of Polri to always remain humble.
“A strong institution is an institution that is willing to change; an institution loved by the people is an institution that is always humble,” he concluded.
