Prabowo's Rp100 billion Sacrificial Cattle Budget from State Budget, Purbaya Says 'I Don't Know'
President Prabowo is reported to have distributed 1,098 sacrificial cattle on Eid al-Adha 1447 AH. It was previously reported that the budget for the cattle procurement came from the state budget. This was confirmed with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who was interviewed after Eid prayers at the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) on Wednesday morning, 27 May 2026. Purbaya admitted he was unaware of the President’s sacrificial cattle aid budget, reportedly amounting to around Rp100 billion. ‘I don’t know about this. I’ll check,’ Purbaya said, quoted on Thursday, 28 May 2026. He advised the matter should be directed to the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg), as he believed the budget likely came from them. ‘Ask the State Minister. I think the money is theirs,’ he said. Previously, Deputy Minister of State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro stated that the President’s sacrificial cattle aid budget came from the state budget via the Presidential Social Assistance programme. During an interview at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, he said the expenditure reached Rp100 billion after adjusting cattle prices in each region. ‘The budget source is the state budget through the Presidential Social Assistance programme. We adjusted cattle prices per region. The total expenditure is approximately Rp100 billion,’ he said.
