Prabowo's Roof Renewal Programme Shows Early Signs of Beginning, Here Are the Photos
The Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) has launched its Roof Renewal Programme (Gentengisasi) to improve the densely populated Menteng Tenggulun area in Central Jakarta. The programme focuses on upgrading substandard housing, improving sanitation facilities, and strengthening residents’ economies through micro and small enterprise (UMKM) empowerment.
Several homes scheduled for renovation now display design samples and identification numbers provided by the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas. The area improvement initiative is being carried out through collaboration between the ministry, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, banking sector participants, corporate social responsibility organisations, and the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI) Jakarta.
A total of 52 homes are targeted for renovation to meet habitable standards, with 23 of these belonging to UMKM operators who will also receive further training and support. The area improvement extends beyond house renovation to include lane improvements and the development of a culinary tourism area based on UMKM enterprises.
Menteng Tenggulun, known as a densely populated area within the elite Menteng district, will be transformed into a model “Gotong Royong Village” demonstrating the concept of healthy housing and thriving community economics.
