Prabowo's Respectful Remarks to PDIP During DPR Speech

President Prabowo Subianto praised PDIP and expressed respect for the party during his speech on the ‘Macro Economic Framework and Key Fiscal Policy (KEMPPKF) RAPBN for the 2027 Budget Year’ at the DPR building in Jakarta on Wednesday, 20 May. Prabowo acknowledged PDIP as the sole opposition party and respected their political position. He also referred to the assistance of PDIP chair Megawati Soekarnoputri. The remarks came at the end of a roughly 100-minute plenary speech in the DPR complex yesterday. Prabowo stressed that he respects PDIP’s stance as opposition, even though he had hoped all parties would join him. He said democracy nonetheless requires an opposition to safeguard the checks and balances of government.
