Prabowo's Promises on Seized Funds and Court Staff Salaries
President Prabowo Subianto delivered several promises and plans during his speech at the handover ceremony of administrative forest area fines totalling Rp 10.27 trillion from the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH) at the Attorney General’s Office complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.
He stated that the stack of money on display was not merely a ceremonial prop but evidence that needed to be shown to the public. The Head of State noted that the handover event had been held at least four times since he took office, with a total value of around Rp 40 trillion.
Seized Funds from Corruptors for Puskesmas and Schools
The Chairman of the Gerindra Party said that seized funds from corruptors would be used for public facilities. He emphasised that state money corrupted must be salvaged to benefit society.
One of the uses would be to improve schools and community health centres or puskesmas. “We will repair everything with the money that, if not salvaged, will be lost to corruptors, thieves, and robbers,” he said.
Prabowo mentioned receiving reports that around 10,000 puskesmas across the country had not been repaired since the era of former President Soeharto. Prabowo estimated that it would take about Rp 2 billion to repair a puskesmas. Thus, he said, it would require approximately Rp 20 trillion to repair 10,000 puskesmas in Indonesia.
In addition to puskesmas, Prabowo stated that seized funds from corruptors could be utilised to repair schools. The former defence minister said the government was repairing 70,000 schools this year.
“Next year we will repair 100,000, the year after that 100,000, and the following year we will complete all madrasahs and so on,” he said.
Prabowo Wants to Form a Task Force for Business Permit Deregulation
Prabowo wants to establish a task force to simplify business licensing in Indonesia. This task force will accelerate deregulation efforts in the country.
Prabowo instructed State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi to design the special task force together with experts. “Simplify it, don’t complicate it. Entrepreneurs must be helped and supported,” he said.
According to Prabowo, the government wants to discipline naughty entrepreneurs operating in Indonesia. However, he said, those who genuinely want to work and invest must be assisted.
Moreover, Prabowo acknowledged that there are still bureaucrats in Indonesia who complicate business licensing processes, causing investors to complain.
He expressed surprise that such practices still occur despite government efforts to simplify licensing. According to him, permits that have been made easy are complicated again through various technical provisions. Some bureaucrats, he said, even use this opportunity for corruption.
Prabowo Will Raise Salaries for Clerks to Court Administrative Staff
Prabowo also promised to increase salaries for court employees. He conveyed this after receiving input from Supreme Court Chief Justice Sunarto, who reminded him that court employees’ salaries had not yet increased, unlike those of judges.
“In our courts, we still have other officers; clerks’ salaries haven’t increased, then there are staff, administrative affairs,” said Prabowo, quoting Sunarto’s words.
Prabowo claimed to understand the issue and promised to instruct Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to study the salary increase proposal for court staff. He ordered the state treasurer to find funds for the salary addition for court officers.
“Finance Minister, find money so that all court officers’ salaries must also increase,” he said.
Prabowo also urged judges to issue fair decisions for society. He believes that every court decision will be studied and judged by a society that is not foolish.
Prabowo to Seize Rp 39 Trillion from Corruptors’ Accounts
Prabowo said there is Rp 39 trillion in funds from unclear sources dormant in various bank accounts in Indonesia. Prabowo suspects the money belongs to corruptors who have fled abroad or died.
“Maybe he has many young wives or mistresses, so his wives or heirs don’t know he has money in those banks. It hasn’t been managed for years,” he said.
Prabowo claimed the state would withdraw those dormant funds from the accounts. “If it hasn’t been managed for years, and after one year we announce it and no one comes, then transfer it for the people,” he said.
About a month ago, on 10 April 2026, Prabowo also witnessed the handover of Rp 11.4 trillion from Satgas PKH to the state treasury at the Attorney General’s Office building. The money was displayed behind the podium where Prabowo spoke, just like the procession in May.
