Prabowo's Performance in First Half of 2026 Rated Positive
The Indonesia Development Monitoring (IDM) has reported that the public satisfaction level regarding President Prabowo Subianto’s performance during the first semester of 2026 has reached 81.5%. Based on the survey results, 11.2% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction, while 7.3% provided no answer.
The survey was conducted between 11 and 20 July 2026, involving 1,640 respondents across various provinces in Indonesia. The sampling utilised a multistage random sampling method, with a margin of error of approximately 2.37% at a 95% confidence level.
IDM Executive Director Dedy Rohman stated that the survey results indicate that the majority of respondents still hold a positive view of the government’s policy direction. “The public perceives President Prabowo’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement, maintaining economic stability amidst global uncertainty, and implementing priority programmes whose benefits are beginning to be felt by the community,” Dedy said in a written statement on Thursday (30/7).
IDM noted that law enforcement against alleged corruption within the government’s priority programmes was one of the factors influencing respondent satisfaction. Specifically, 86.7% of respondents expressed satisfaction with government actions in this aspect, while 10.6% were dissatisfied and 2.7% did not respond.
Priority programmes surveyed included the Free Nutritious Meal (Makan Bergizi Gratis), the Red and White Village Cooperative (Koperasi Desa Merah Putih), People’s School (Sekolah Rakyat), and social assistance. While the survey reflected perceptions of law enforcement measures, it did not assess the specific processes or outcomes of individual legal cases.
Regarding the economy, 65.3% of respondents believed President Prabowo has successfully maintained national economic stability. However, 19.8% were dissatisfied, and 14.9% did not answer. When asked about their personal economic conditions, 10.1% rated it as good or very good, while the majority (61.4%) considered the economic condition to be average. Meanwhile, 27.2% rated the economic condition as bad or very bad.
These findings indicate a disparity between the perception of national economic stability and the economic conditions directly experienced by some households.
In terms of national political conditions, 35.1% of respondents rated it as good or very good, while 36.8% viewed the political situation as stable. Conversely, 24.6% rated the political condition as bad or very bad.
The survey also noted that 75.3% of respondents liked the President’s communication pattern with the public. IDM suggested that government public communication could still be strengthened to ensure policies are more easily understood by the populace.
Among the priority programmes queried, ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ received the highest approval rating at 85.6%. Social assistance programmes were approved by 81.2% of respondents. The Free Nutritious Meal programme saw a 68.4% approval rate, while the Red and White Village Cooperative received approval from 53.5% of respondents. According to IDM, programmes whose benefits are perceived to be directly felt tend to garner higher support compared to programmes that are still in their early implementation stages.
