Prabowo's Message to Danantara: Always Safeguard National Wealth

Jakarta – President of the Republic Prabowo Subianto has conveyed a message to the State Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara Indonesia to consistently prioritise good governance in managing national wealth.

According to him, Danantara not only manages the nation’s current wealth but also the wealth of Indonesia’s youth in the future.

Prabowo delivered the message during the commemoration of Danantara’s first anniversary in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

“I entrust you with vigilance and caution. Remember that the hopes of the entire nation and all people rest upon your shoulders as you safeguard and manage the wealth of our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren,” said Prabowo.

He added that good governance is crucial for fund management institutions and sovereign wealth funds to avoid losses. If such an institution incurs losses, efforts to preserve the nation’s wealth for future generations will become more difficult.

Prabowo further noted that Danantara currently manages assets under management (AUM) valued at more than USD 1 trillion, making it one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds.

“Danantara has been given a considerable responsibility: to manage the nation’s wealth. We named it Danantara, which stands for Daya Anagata Nusantara – the energy and power of the nation’s future. Therefore, Danantara must safeguard and manage the strength and energy of our nation for the future,” he added.

Accordingly, Prabowo emphasised that the government will continue to strengthen oversight of Danantara to ensure the institution performs its duties properly.

According to him, Danantara is currently one of the most closely monitored institutions in Indonesia, with a Supervisory Board comprising several Coordinating Ministers.

Additionally, he has also requested the Financial Audit Board (BPK), the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), the Attorney General’s Office, the National Police, and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces to oversee Danantara.

Prabowo has also opened the possibility of appointing special presidential representatives in each State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) under Danantara’s management to strengthen oversight.

“We must oversee this because it is the lifeblood of the Indonesian nation. If this lifeblood continues to leak, our nation will face hardship,” he concluded.
