Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto has called on the Indonesian people to unite during a period of global crisis caused by the conflict between the United States and Israel against Iran. Prabowo stressed that the presidential election period has ended and that there are no longer differences; what must now be done is to unite to save the Indonesian Republic.

“I also do not understand that kind of thinking because we are one nation, one ship, and if the ship tilts, we all tilt with it. Differences of opinion are fine—differences of opinion are not a problem, political competition happens every five years in regional, legislative, and presidential elections,” he said at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday 13 March 2026.

“But once these competitions are over, this nation should unite and work together to save our great ship, the ship we call the Republic, as it navigates waters full of reefs and dangers,” he added.

During the occasion, Prabowo also thanked the public who continue to support the government. He stated that the government is not idle in seeking to mitigate the impact of the global crisis on Indonesia.

“We face challenges and we are ready for worst-case scenarios, but our nation has great strength—we simply need to manage it and overcome the major crises just as we have before. I am confident we will emerge even stronger,” he said.

Prabowo also stated that the current global crisis could actually help the government accelerate Indonesia’s transformation towards a better future.

“In my view, we will conclude the reports, but in my opinion, the crisis is actually accelerating our transformation plans. In the end, we are forced to accelerate,” he explained.
