Ladies and gentlemen, there is another gift for the workers. I have just signed Presidential Regulation No. 25 of 2026 on the ratification of International Labour Organization Convention No. 188 to ensure protection and welfare for fishing vessel crew members,” said Prabowo at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026). In addition, Prabowo stated that the government will inaugurate 1,386 fishing villages this year. The inauguration of these fishing villages will continue in subsequent years. “For the first time in the history of the Republic of Indonesia, fishermen are being properly managed. Next year, we will open 1,500 fishing villages, the year after that 1,500, and the following year another 1,500. In total, approximately 6 million fishermen, along with their children and wives—over 20 million Indonesians—will have their lives improved. Their lives will be prosperous; those who have been struggling, going to sea without ice—now we will build ice factories in every fishing village. We will also assist them with vessels,” said Prabowo. Another gift prepared by Prabowo for the May Day moment is the regulation on online transport protection. One of its benefits is that drivers will receive BPJS Health coverage. “We are also regulating this; I have signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transport Workers. As I mentioned earlier, they must be provided with work accident insurance, BPJS Health, health insurance, and also the revenue sharing, which was previously 80% for drivers, is now a minimum of 92% for drivers,” said Prabowo.
