Prabowo's Maung Transported by TNI AU Airbus A400M to the Philippines
President Prabowo Subianto used the Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine vehicle for the first time in an overseas trip while attending the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines. The Maung was flown directly from Indonesia to Cebu using an Airbus A400M aircraft owned by the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU).
According to the Presidential Palace Press Bureau, on Sunday (10/5/2026), the presidential vehicle produced by PT Pindad, a product of the nation’s ingenuity, arrived in Cebu earlier on Monday (4/5). From the belly of the TNI AU Airbus A400M aircraft, the Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine was transported directly from Indonesia to accompany Prabowo’s mobility during the state agenda.
For information, the Airbus A400M itself is the largest aircraft owned by the TNI AU. This military transport aircraft arrived in Indonesia on 3 November 2025.
At that time, Prabowo was present in person at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, to symbolically hand over the A400M aircraft to TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto.
The jumbo aircraft is designed as a Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) capable of operating for various missions, both in military operations for war (OMP) and military operations other than war (OMSP).
The A400M is also equipped with four Europrop International TP400-D6 turboprop engines. Each engine can produce 11,000 horsepower.
With that immense power, the A400M has the world’s most powerful military aircraft engine. Upon takeoff, this aircraft has a maximum weight of 141 tonnes, a maximum speed of 433 knots (0.72 Mach), and can fly for 8 hours without refuelling to an altitude of 40,000 feet.
Returning to the Maung, this light tactical vehicle also drew attention amid the line-up of vehicles from ASEAN member states during the summit in Cebu. Prabowo is said to have chosen the domestically produced vehicle as a representation of Indonesia’s strategic industry capabilities on the world stage.
The Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine is the latest variant of the Maung family developed by PT Pindad. This vehicle is specifically designed from the MV3 platform as the official vehicle for the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, with high standards of security, comfort, and performance.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya emphasised that the use of the Maung in an international forum carries meaning far beyond its function as a presidential operational vehicle.
“The use of the Maung in this international forum is not merely a means of transportation, but a symbol of national independence, the nation’s self-confidence, and the advancement of Indonesia’s national industry. The Maung becomes a symbol of diplomacy. From within the country, for Indonesia, present on the world stage,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy in his statement.
According to Teddy, the Maung’s journey to Cebu serves as a symbol of the nation’s readiness to bring national strategic products to the international level. The presence of the vehicle also demonstrates that Indonesia’s defence industry works can stand side by side and be trusted to support state agendas at the highest regional forum in Southeast Asia.
