JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto undertook a working visit to Paris, France, on Tuesday (26/5/2026). The state visit to France comes as a reciprocation of President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Indonesia last year. The working visit aims to strengthen the Indonesia-France Strategic Partnership, which has evolved through frequent interactions and close rapport between the two presidents. Moreover, the two heads of state have held several previous meetings on 14 July 2025, 23 January 2026, and 14 April 2026. During his stay in Paris, Prabowo is scheduled to attend a series of official engagements to bolster bilateral cooperation. Bilateral talks will focus on enhancing cooperation in strategic areas including defence, renewable energy, critical minerals, education, science, and innovation. Indonesia and France also hold significant roles in regional relations. Indonesia is regarded as a key European partner in Asia, while France plays a strategic role as a bridge between Southeast Asia and Europe. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the enhanced partnership not only strengthens diplomatic resilience between the two nations but also affirms their shared commitment to peace and a rules-based world order. Prabowo arrived at Paris Orly Airport around 10:00 local time (15:00 WIB) after a 16-hour flight. Upon arrival, he was greeted by French Minister of Labour and Solidarity Jean-Pierre Farandou and a guard of honour.
