Prabowo’s Fidgety Search for Coffee During DPR Plenary Session

Jakarta — A humorous moment occurred during the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. President Prabowo Subianto, in attendance, delivered a speech and appeared to fidget while looking for coffee at his podium. At the outset, Prabowo highlighted the achievements of Indonesian companies operating abroad. ‘We must also recognise the achievements of our companies that can compete at the global level, for instance how Indofood is marketed worldwide; many Europeans look for Indomie. Even in many African countries, they think it is their product,’ he said. Similarly, Mayora, Prabowo said, has succeeded in marketing Kopiko to 100 countries. ‘Because Kopiko has the President as its brand ambassador too, encouraging coffee drinking everywhere,’ he added. Moments later, Prabowo was seen fidgeting at the podium, looking for coffee. After checking to his left, right, and behind him, he finally found a glass of coffee in front of him. ‘Oh, there it is. I respectfully request permission to drink, Madam Speaker. Kopiko loves a president who drinks coffee,’ Prabowo said as he took a sip of coffee. The moment caused a flutter in the Plenary Session. Several members were seen laughing at the President’s action, followed by rapturous applause.
