Prabowo's Eid Instructions: No Excessive Open House Celebrations
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto has cautioned his cabinet ministers against excessive extravagance during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations in 1447 Hijri/2026 CE.
In a cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday (13 March 2026), Prabowo instructed his Red Cabinet ministers not to host lavish open house celebrations during the 2026 Eid holiday.
“We should also set an example with our open house events—they should not be overly luxurious,” said Prabowo during the cabinet session.
The head of state highlighted the post-disaster situation in various regions across Indonesia, emphasising that government officials must lead by example for the public.
“Our brothers and sisters in disaster-affected areas are suffering, and we must show the people an example in this situation,” he stated.
Nevertheless, Prabowo stressed that this is not an absolute directive. He clarified that officials need not abandon open house celebrations entirely, as economic activity must continue flowing.
“However, we should not completely shut down all such activities either. If we do that, our economy will also stop functioning,” he added.
