Prabowo's Easter Greetings to Putin, Cabinet Secretary Teddy: A Form of Respect for Traditions in Russia
Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto conveyed Easter greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the entire Russian society during a meeting at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Monday, 13 April 2026.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the greeting was a form of respect for religious celebrations in Russia.
“The greeting was conveyed as a form of respect for traditions and religious celebrations in Russia,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy, quoted on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.
Prabowo’s Easter greetings were fully appreciated by President Putin.
He considered the greeting to have special significance, given that Indonesia is a country with the largest Muslim population in the world.
“President Putin welcomed it warmly and greatly appreciated President Prabowo; he was very pleased to hear the Holy Easter greetings, as they came from the head of state of the country with the largest Muslim population in the world,” he said.
President Putin also emphasised that Russia is a multi-confessional country that upholds diversity and tolerance among religious communities. In that tradition, various religious celebrations are respected and celebrated together as part of national life.
“He conveyed that the Russian state is a multi-confessional country, which adheres to various religions, but still celebrates all religious holidays,” he added.
The meeting between the two leaders not only discussed bilateral relations and strategic cooperation in various fields but also reflected values of mutual respect and tolerance that are an important foundation in inter-state relations.
This moment became a strong symbol of the friendship between Indonesia and Russia, while also showing that differences in religious backgrounds are not an obstacle, but rather a bridge to strengthen relations and mutual understanding amid global dynamics.
