Prabowo's Directive: Palace Confirms National Electric Motorcycle to Launch Soon

The Presidential Palace has confirmed President Prabowo Subianto’s plan to launch a national electric motorcycle, the work of the nation’s own engineers, in the near future. The launch is an effort to accelerate the clean energy transition and achieve automotive industry self-sufficiency. “Regarding the national electric motorcycle, we will convey the details in due course. In the near future, there will likely be a launch of a national electric motorcycle, the work of the nation’s children,” said Prasetyo. According to Prasetyo, the existence of a national electric motorcycle proves that Indonesia has the capability to develop electric vehicle technology and industry. “This proves that if we have the will, if we have the desire, the Indonesian nation will be able to achieve it. If there are still some shortcomings, let us improve them together,” he stated. The programme is also part of the government’s strategy to reduce dependence on fossil fuel-based oil. The use of electric vehicles is expected to reduce fuel consumption while supporting the energy transition agenda being pursued by the government. “It is not just about our ability to produce a national electric car or motorcycle. This is also part of our effort to reduce dependence on fossil fuel consumption,” he said. He added that the impact of developing national electric vehicles will be felt not only by the automotive industry but also on national energy security through reduced fuel consumption. Prasetyo has not yet disclosed the exact launch schedule or the specifications of the national electric motorcycle. He only confirmed that the government will provide further information soon. Previously, President Prabowo Subianto said he would inaugurate the national electric motorcycle within a few weeks. This was conveyed during the TNI Grand Harvest event in Malang, East Java. He expressed hope that the national electric motorcycle could become a more economical and efficient transport solution, especially for people in productive sectors such as farmers. “I hope that farmers will at least ride motorcycles. Electric motorcycles. Who knows, maybe everyone will eventually use cars,” he said.
