Prabowo's Directive: Maruarar Targets 324 Houses in Senen by June
Housing and Settlement Areas Minister Maruarar Sirait is targeting the completion of a relocation housing project for residents along the railway tracks in the Senen area of Central Jakarta within the next two months. Maruarar stated that, following President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions after a recent field visit, more than 300 housing units have already begun construction in the Senen area.
“If it’s in Senen, it will be completed by 15 June, meaning two months from now, 15 June 2026. The number is around 324 units,” Maruarar said after a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, 6 April 2026.
Not only that, Maruarar added, the government together with PT Kereta Api Indonesia is preparing follow-up processes involving the construction of 500 additional housing units. “So the total is 824 units. We hope for that, but the first to be completed might be the 324 units in Senen,” Maruarar stated.
According to him, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (Kementerian PKP) is implementing a collaborative scheme involving various parties in carrying out this construction.
His ministry, Maruarar said, is responsible for preparing the land, while funding and construction aspects are a collaboration between the central government through the state revenue and expenditure budget (APBN), the Danantara Investment Management Agency, and private sector participation.
Maruarar stated that the government has received support from private companies’ corporate social responsibility programmes. “For example, from Astra, they have committed to 1,000 units of flats. So we prepare the land, then Astra builds them, and they are handed over to the state,” Maruarar said. “Mutual cooperation is happening, with APBN, Danantara, and the private sector working quickly.”
Regarding the ownership scheme for the future occupants of these houses, Maruarar conveyed that the government is currently prioritising the completion of the construction first. This is so that the community can soon occupy decent housing.
“We build while preparing the regulations later. Whatever is possible, for now there will certainly be many that are rental in nature, yes, rental at affordable prices,” Maruarar stated.
President Prabowo Subianto previously promised decent housing for residents living along the railway tracks in Senen, Central Jakarta. He conveyed this after a surprise visit to the area.
In a post on his Instagram account @prabowo, the Head of State shared a video of his impromptu visit to the area along the tracks in Kramat, Pasar Senen. “Insyaallah, we will soon build decent housing for the community in that area quickly, and it has become my determination to provide decent housing for the Indonesian people,” said the Chairman of the Gerindra Party on Thursday, 26 March 2026.
