Prabowo's Diplomatic Week Draws Praise, Indonesia Now a Regional Geopolitical Anchor

Professor Dr. Yuddy Chrisnandi, a political science expert from Universitas Nasional (Unas), has expressed high praise for the intensity of high-level diplomacy conducted by President Prabowo Subianto. In just one week, Jakarta became a global centre of attention with the presence of three state leaders from different geopolitical axes. According to Yuddy, this series of meetings was not merely a routine protocol agenda, but a sign of Indonesia’s strong position on the global stage. “This is a convergence of strategic interests. Indonesia was visited by key partners from Eurasia, ASEAN, and South Asia. Jakarta has now become a diplomatic meeting point, not just a guest at other people’s forums,” said Yuddy, who also served as Indonesian Ambassador to Ukraine, Georgia, and Armenia from 2017 to 2021. Throughout the first week of July 2026, President Prabowo received state visits encompassing economic, security, and cultural cooperation. Yuddy highlighted President Lukashenko’s visit as a shrewd move by President Prabowo to open doors to the Eurasian Economic Union market. Belarus, as a key member of the bloc, offers concrete cooperation in the industrial and fertiliser sectors vital for national food security. Meanwhile, the meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong was seen as strengthening ties with the closest neighbour, with a crucial focus on securing the Strait of Malacca. “Keeping the Strait of Malacca safe is a vital global interest. This proves Prabowo is capable of nurturing close partners while reaching out to distant ones,” added the former Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform. The peak of the diplomatic week, according to Yuddy, was the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Beyond defence agreements such as the BrahMos missile system contract, Yuddy was deeply impressed by India’s commitment to supporting the restoration of Prambanan Temple through the Archaeological Survey of India. “Prambanan is living proof of the civilisational ties between Indonesia and India spanning thousands of years. When the two leaders agreed to preserve this heritage, they built a bridge of friendship with a soul, far stronger than a mere trade agreement,” he explained. Concluding his analysis, Yuddy asserted that the phenomenon of world leaders flocking to Jakarta was not a coincidence. It is the result of leadership that possesses vision and stature in the international eye. “Indonesia is the largest country in ASEAN. It is fitting that President Prabowo becomes the geopolitical anchor of the region, a berth for the interests of many nations. This is the fruit of leadership that we should appreciate,” Yuddy concluded.
