JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has made a strong commitment to resolving the waste problem in Indonesia.

President Prabowo even personally inspected the Environment and Education-Based Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST BLE) in Banyumas, Central Java, on Tuesday afternoon (28/4/2026).

During the inspection of the Banyumas TPST site, Prabowo was shown various processed or recycled products, such as plastic roof tiles, paving blocks, and plastic pellets.

“This is our plastic product, low-value plastic that doesn’t sell well, turned into paving blocks; this is made into roof tiles. If you throw this tile, it won’t break, sir; the price is around 7,000 to 8,000. For the paving blocks, it’s 2,500,” said the officer at the TPST to Prabowo, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.

According to President Prabowo, the TPST BLE in Banyumas represents a very good breakthrough and can serve as a model for other regions.

“So, I think this is very effective as an example for many provinces, many districts, and even other countries have come here,” said Prabowo after inspecting the TPST BLE in Banyumas.

After the inspection, Prabowo emphasised that waste processing is now a national priority.

The Head of State also targeted that all waste in Indonesia can be managed within the next 2 to 3 years.

“Yes, we will develop all of it. Waste, waste processing, now it’s a national priority. In 2 to 3 years, we must control all waste in Indonesia,” stated Prabowo at the TPST Banyumas.

Based on a report from the Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi, at least 13 districts in the region are developing similar models.

“So, the central government will encourage this, and I will provide direct assistance to develop, improve, expand, and make it more effective,” said Prabowo.

He is also optimistic that the target can be achieved with strong cooperation between the central and regional governments.
