Prabowo's Bold Move to Evaluate MBG: Dismissal of BGN Head and Internal Audit Initiated
President Prabowo Subianto has carried out a reshuffle of the leadership ranks of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), dismissing Dadan Hindayana from his position as head of the institution and appointing Nanik Sudaryati Deyang as his successor.
In addition to Dadan, Prabowo also removed Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sanjaya from their positions as deputy heads of the BGN. In their stead, the President appointed Agustina Arumsari and Major General TNI Trenggono to occupy these roles. The official announcement was made by the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, who also serves as the Spokesperson for the President of Indonesia, during a press conference at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Tuesday night.
Prasetyo explained that the decision to replace the BGN leadership was made after the President conducted monitoring and evaluations of the agency’s performance over the past one and a half years. While implementing these changes, the government expressed its appreciation to the outgoing officials for their contributions to establishing the foundations of the BGN.
The government expects the new leadership to immediately undertake internal consolidation and strengthen coordination with various ministries, agencies, and local governments to ensure all BGN programmes continue to operate optimally. Although the official inauguration schedule is to be announced later, the newly appointed officials are authorised to begin exercising their duties and responsibilities immediately.
During the press conference, Prasetyo also revealed several findings that influenced the President’s decision. He noted issues regarding discipline in implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), organisational governance, and the maintenance of food quality standards.
Regarding allegations of malpractice involving the sale of kitchen sites for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme and Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), Prasetyo emphasised that these matters are currently undergoing internal audits and inspections. He stated that such audits are part of the continuous monitoring and evaluation process intended to ensure the BGN performs its functions effectively.
Despite the leadership changes, the government has assured that all BGN programmes, particularly the flagship Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, will continue without disruption. Prasetyo reaffirmed that the leadership transition does not alter the government’s commitment to the programme’s implementation.
