Prabowo's Bhayangkara Day Message: Law Must Not Be a Tool for the Wealthy

President Prabowo Subianto has asserted that the law in Indonesia must not be bought or sold or influenced by the power of money. According to him, the law must stand firm as a protector of the people seeking justice. This was conveyed by Prabowo during the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration in Cikeas, Bogor, on Wednesday (1/7/2026). Prabowo stressed that the law must protect the people and must not be sharp downwards and blunt upwards. Initially, Prabowo stated that law enforcement in Indonesia must be carried out fairly without criminalisation or abuse of authority. “Our country is a state of law. Therefore, we must uphold the law. The law must be respected and appreciated. The law must be a protector of the people, the law must provide a sense of security to honest citizens. The law must be a refuge for the weak. The law must not be sharp downwards and blunt upwards,” Prabowo said in his speech. Prabowo said the law should not be used as a tool for those with money. He stressed that no one in Indonesia is immune to the law if they commit a mistake. “The law must not become a tool for those who have money. The law must not become a tool for political revenge. The law must not be used for the interests of any one group,” Prabowo said. “There must be no criminalisation. There must be no abuse of authority. And no one must be immune to the law,” he continued. Prabowo said the people must receive legal protection. Those who are innocent must feel safe, and those who are guilty must be held accountable for their actions. “I emphasise once again, the weakest people must receive protection. People seeking truth and justice must be served. Those who are innocent must feel safe. Those who are guilty must be held accountable for their actions,” he added.
