Prabowo's Aircraft Once Again Escorted by F-16 Fighter Jets During Jordan Visit
The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has made another visit to Jordan. Prabowo was escorted by F-16 fighter jets belonging to the Royal Jordanian Air Force as he entered the country’s airspace. Prabowo arrived at Marka Military Airport, Amman, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on Tuesday (24 February) at 8 pm local time. Similar escorts also occurred during Prabowo’s visit to Jordan in mid-2025. This air escort serves as a symbol of high respect from the Jordanian government towards President Prabowo and the Indonesian people. Prabowo’s visit this time is a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. Upon arrival at Marka Military Airport, Prabowo was immediately warmly welcomed by the Crown Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. From the Indonesian side, the Indonesian Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ade Padmo Sarwono, and the Indonesian Defence Attaché to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Colonel Dafris D. Syahruddin, were present. From the airport, President Prabowo immediately went to the hotel where he would be staying in Amman. Prabowo is scheduled to meet with the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, today. This working visit by President Prabowo to Jordan is expected to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, especially in the fields of education, defence, agriculture, and regional issues in the Middle East. Moreover, this year, 2026, marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to Amman were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Prabowo Subianto’s arrival at the hotel was also greeted by dozens of members of the diaspora. Indonesian students in Jordan expressed their happiness at Prabowo’s presence there. “Earlier, he gave us encouragement for all of us who are studying in Jordan, and he also encouraged us. We are very happy because he is very friendly,” said one of the female students named Lulu. (wnv/wnv)
