Prabowo's Address at the DPR Plenary Session: Urging Youth to Embrace Entrepreneurship

President Prabowo Subianto has urged Indonesian youth to embrace entrepreneurship in his national address at the DPR plenary session. The aim is that government support can realise this. ‘We must push them, give them the opportunity to grow into strong, new entrepreneurs,’ Prabowo was quoted as saying to Kompas.com on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. So that, going forward, Indonesia’s business climate can improve and remain healthy. ‘This is something we are currently working on together; we will not only provide entrepreneurship education. Once they complete it, we must provide startup credit,’ he said. ‘We must push our private companies to excel. We want young people not all to aspire to be civil servants; not everyone should aspire to work for the government,’ he added. For decades, national wealth has leaked away due to practices such as under-invoicing, transfer pricing, and even capital flight from exports. ‘Brothers and sisters, we calculate, we estimate the potential money that could be saved from these leakages is US$150 billion per year. Potential,’ Prabowo was quoted as saying by Kontan. For that reason, Prabowo wants Indonesia’s wealth to return to the people. ‘I believe the root cause of our nation’s economy is the leakage of our wealth, rather than its staying outside the Republic of Indonesia,’ he said.
