Prabowo Works from Home, State Secretary Minister: The 'H' Stands for Hambalang

President Prabowo Subianto worked from home (WFH) at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Friday, 19 June 2026. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the President was adhering to the WFH policy currently in effect for civil servants (ASN) every Friday. The WFH policy for ASN has been implemented since April this year as a government effort to conserve fuel oil (BBM). “As it happens, today is Friday and the WFH policy has not yet been revoked, so the President is conducting activities at home,” said Prasetyo. He joked that the ‘H’ in work from home could be replaced with Hambalang. “WFH, the H can be changed to Hambalang,” said the Gerindra Party politician. According to Prasetyo, Prabowo had received several guests at his home since Friday morning. Later in the afternoon, the President welcomed the Minister of Youth and Sports, who is also the General Chairman of the All-Indonesia Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, and the men’s national football team coach, John Herdman. The government previously implemented a once-a-week WFH policy for ASN starting 1 April 2026. The Friday WFH policy is a fuel-saving measure amidst global oil price turmoil caused by the war between the United States and Israel against Iran in the Middle East. Friday was designated as the WFH day because work activities on that day are not as heavy as on other days. However, certain sectors remain exempt from the WFH policy for ASN. Workers in public service sectors, such as health, security, and sanitation, continue to work from the office. The WFH policy also does not apply to other strategic sectors such as industry or production, energy, water, staple foods and beverages, trade, transportation, as well as logistics and finance. In May 2026, the government announced an extension of the WFH policy. ASN will continue to implement WFH every Friday until at least July 2026. At that time, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the extension was taken because the conflict in the Middle East had not yet ended. “In the current situation where the war is not over, work from home will be continued for the next two months,” he said after a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, 21 May 2026.
