President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government will continue to renovate all schools in Indonesia over the next 2-3 years, including in the country’s outermost border regions.

Prabowo explained that the government will carry out improvements to facilities on Indonesia’s northernmost island, including health centres and schools.

“All schools will be renovated as well; this year and over the next 2-3 years, all schools in Indonesia will be renovated,” said Prabowo in Miangas Regency, North Sulawesi, on Saturday, 9 May 2026.

During his inspection at SMK Negeri 2 Talaud, the President also confirmed that schools in the area have received school digitalisation assistance in the form of interactive digital boards to support the teaching and learning process.

“Have you received the new screens? The junior high school has them too? All schools have received them?” asked Prabowo.

A representative from the local government then confirmed that schools on Miangas Island have indeed received the interactive digital boards.

On that occasion, he also expressed appreciation for the community’s welcome and highlighted that he is the second President of Indonesia to visit the country’s northernmost island.

The Head of State said he is grateful to see the conditions in Miangas directly, ensuring that improvements to facilities frequently used by the public will continue.

Not only health and education facilities, but the President also provided assistance to fishermen on that occasion, including one 15 gross tonnage (GT) vessel.

President Prabowo arrived in Miangas today after previously attending the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines, on 7-8 May 2026.

Miangas Island is one of the outermost islands located at the northern tip of Indonesia, near the border with the Philippines.
