Prabowo willing to hold quarterly meetings with KADIN

The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, stated that President Prabowo Subianto is willing to hold periodic meetings with KADIN as a forum to discuss business developments and economic conditions, extending down to the regional levels. Following a meeting between KADIN central and regional entrepreneurs at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday, Anin noted that these routine meetings are expected to take place every three months, with discussions becoming more sector-focused. “We are very grateful that the President has expressed his willingness to hold regular meetings with KADIN. We hope this can happen every three months and will be organised by sector to ensure a more focused approach and a better understanding of field conditions in the regions,” said Anin.

During the meeting with President Prabowo, KADIN presented various inputs from regional businesses and national business associations. The issues discussed ranged from foreign relations, artificial intelligence (AI), and food security to the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme and infrastructure. Additionally, representatives from the Indonesian National Construction Contractors Association (Gapensi) raised concerns regarding job opportunities for regional contractors amidst the current fiscal conditions. Other participants raised topics such as Buton asphalt from Southeast Sulawesi, tobacco commodities from East Java, and the tourism sector.

Anindya added that KADIN views intensive communication between the government, regional KADIN, associations, and business groups as increasingly vital amidst global geopolitical and geo-economic dynamics that affect trade, investment, and global supply chains. “In general, KADIN sees that there are many challenges, but we remain optimistic. We choose to increase communication, continue our efforts, and seek various breakthroughs on the ground,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of KADIN Indonesia for Food Security, Mulyadi Jayabaya, stated that the President was open to the feedback provided by KADIN officials and regional representatives. He noted that the President welcomed the views presented by the business community and responded positively to the proposal for regular dialogue with KADIN. “The President is very open and has warmly received KADIN’s input. He welcomes the suggestions. Meeting KADIN every three months to discuss the economy, employment, and export increases,” said Mulyadi.
