Prabowo Welcomes Proposals from Indonesian Professors and Rectors
President Prabowo Subianto attended the closing ceremony of the 2026 Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) National Seminar, following his opening of the event several days prior. The forum brought together professors, rectors, deans, members of the Red and White Cabinet, and other state officials.
The KSTI series of events was held at the JCC, Senayan, Jakarta. During the closing ceremony on Sunday (28/6/2026), the forum formulated a list of proposals and questions to be submitted directly to Prabowo.
Prabowo Receives Various Proposals
The list of proposals and questions was contained in several documents held by Prabowo during his briefing. Addressing the forum, Prabowo mentioned several suggestions from professors and rectors from various Indonesian universities.
“So, my brothers and sisters, I am very grateful; from a quick reading just now, I heard many very good and very sensible proposals, and we will follow them up immediately,” said Prabowo, while holding the list of proposals.
From the series of proposals presented to him, Prabowo highlighted the suggestion to allocate doctoral scholarships for lecturers in both public and private universities. He welcomed this proposal.
“For example, the proposal to allocate doctoral scholarships for lecturers in both state and private universities, etc., is a very good proposal; we will follow this up,” he said.
Additionally, Prabowo highlighted a proposal for every State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) to allocate a portion of their profits to university research costs.
“There was also a proposal regarding research costs, suggesting that every SOE allocate part of their profits to research and innovation. This is a good proposal. The issue is, do these SOEs have profits? They are starting to have them now. Thank you, Danantara,” he remarked.
Another proposal, according to Prabowo, concerned the strategy for processing raw materials into finished goods domestically. He welcomed this idea and emphasised the need for a government process to implement it.
“My brothers and sisters, I see many very positive proposals. There was one from Bengkulu regarding the strategy of moving from raw material processing to the creation of end products. I believe this is what we aspire to, but it must go through a process first. For the first stage alone, our desire for processing in Indonesia will require immense effort. But, God willing, we will move towards that,” he said.
Furthermore, Prabowo welcomed suggestions from professors and rectors regarding the involvement of Indonesian universities in government cooperation with other nations.
“Then there are other proposals regarding cooperation with foreign institutions, involving universities in all fields and all regions; I believe this is correct, and we will move in that direction,” said Prabowo.
A Promise to Follow Up Promptly
Prabately expressed his appreciation for the list of proposals and questions brought to him by the professors and rectors during the forum. He promised to attend to every point.
“So, thank you, brothers and sisters, for diligently participating in this seminar. I have received a list of proposals and questions that were presented, and there are quite many. I promise to attend to them one by one,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo also emphasised that he remains open to any input, including from youths in rural villages, even those delivered via TikTok.
“My brothers and sisters, let alone proposals from professors, even proposals from children in villages that reach me directly via TikTok or other means, I will follow up immediately,” he said.
The Chairperson of the Gerindra Party committed to resolving all matters of concern to the academic community.
“There is much more; we will resolve it all. I think that is all for now,” concluded Prabowo.
